A stunned Mugear, asks the Tringhams to find an alternate method to create the crimson stone at a faster rate, but Russell goes against this. As a response, Mugear captures them for knowing that they are the impostors. Back at the tavern, the Elrics learn that Nash Tringham, the father of Russell and Fletcher, was the original discoverer of the crimson water, but he soon left the town after a disease was spread from his research. the Elrics also find out about Tim Marcoh, who treated this deadly disease with a mysterious method. Mugiar invites the Elrics to do more research on the crimson water. They free the Tringham brothers and confront Mugear about Nash. Mugear tries to attack them, but he is soon overpowered. He escapes underground, but also collapses the passageway, causing the crimson water flood out of the spring. Fletcher uses alchemy to make the trees absorb the water, neutralizing the threat.
