Review Tensura Nikki: Tensei shitara Slime Datta Ken

Spinoffs made these days carries a certain level of risk and this is especially true for fans of their favorite franchises. This can apply to any media, whether it's anime, live action movies or TV shows, and even video games. Being loyal to a brand is part of our DNA and although not everyone follows that mindset, spinoffs usually at the very least must fundamentally meet the expectations of the what it tries to sell. What does that tell you about Tensura Nikki: Tensei shitara Slime Datta Ken? Well, it is a spinoff and is based on the TenSura franchise set in the same universe. Themain TV anime received not only a second season with two parts but also this charming little spinoff. If you're a fan of Rimuru and his daily adventures, then prepare to bedazzled again. One important concept you should know about Slime Diaries is that it follows a non-linear storytelling format and is advertised more as a fantasy slice of life than a fantasy adventure. The English title 'Slime Diaries' sells exactly as the way it sounds. It tells and shows the daily life of Rimuru like a diary. Every episode itself feels like diary entry bought to life. And as you can guess, anything can happen in their world that defies the logic of natural order. Facing this concept, you should relax your mind and watch this as a slice of life. That's because Rimuru is back to entertain the audience through his daily adventures. This is Yuuji Haibara's debut as a director and can we just say how adorably charming the spinoff is? By just glancing at the promotional material, you can say the show is easily decorated with a slate of charm and lighthearted humor. Rimuru returns as the main protagonist alongside a familiar cast from the original series. The personalities of all the cast remains the same and don't expect any real character development. This show isn't here to tell a complex story after all or make a character study of the cast. It's here to relax and make the most of its slice of life themes. Every day in Rimuru's life, we get to see how he helps his community. It's not an easy task but if you're familiar with Rimuru's character, then you'd know that he would often exceed expectations. But Rimuru still retains the personality of a free spirited character. He isn't trying to rule his community with an iron fist but instead geninuely cares about his people. And because of that, Rimuru has the respect and affections from many of his friends. Watching the returning cast is also a joyful delight especially for characters such as Shion, Shuna, Milim, Benimaru, among others. Because they retain the same personalities, expect hilarious rivalries on screen such as Shion vs Shuna. Characters such as Gobuta also returns with a cartoonish role that makes him look like a fool at times. Rimuru's character interchanges between his human and slime form to give viewers an idea about how he lives his life. Nonetheless, this spinoff offers a simple way of storytelling such as community farming, Summer festivals, and of course, the obligatory beach episode. And by beach episode, you can expect the girls dress to impress, especially Shion. As the season changes, we also get to see how the characters spend their times during Winter. There's really minimal conflict (if at all) compared to the main show. Even when there's drama, it's mostly protrayed as lighthearted comedy, rather than with heavy emotions. Really, just watch this with an open mind, and let this anime be what it is. Tensura Nikki Tensei shitara Slime Datta Ken is the type of anime this franchise needed as a brief break before the second half of the main anime airs agian. If you wanted to experience a diary adventure mixed with slice of life comedy, then right here is the right place. Rimuru shows that anyone can enjoy life in a fantasy world, even if they're just a blue bounching slime.

I don't usually like spin-offs, and this is one of those that I don't like. I just don't get why they make a series (spin-off) that doesn't really accomplish anything. This is just a bad spin-off because it is strictly maintaining the anime's status for it's characters. Meaning, they keep the characters same throughout this spin-off so that it won't contradict with the main series. And it's not that it's bad, it's just that this entire spin-off is pointless because it didn't accomplish anything. No character developed nor story progressed. There's no meaning to this spin-off existing. If it was like at least 12 minutes per episode, then I can tolerate it being a slice-of-life spin-off. But it's a full-cour season with 24 minutes per episode. Why? Does it need to be that long to tell a pointless slice-of-life series that won't affect the main series? Well, moving on to my review. The story is bad. Everything happens just because. There's no progression because it feels like "oh, what if we put these characters to a certain situation?" and then they based the entire episode to it. The pacing suffers because of it and so, it's really a drag to watch. Also, the fact that it doesn't affect the main story and stays stagnate is really bad. The characters are bad too. They stay the same throughout the entire season because if even one of them changes, the "jokes" won't work anymore. They are all one-dimensional characters that doesn't develop because just like I said, the story must remain stagnate so that it won't contradict the main story. Also, the fact that they exaggerate the characters to make them funny makes them less funny. But that's just my opinion. The animation is decent. The girls are all cutesy dipsy, but almost all the male characters look like sh*t. The art wasn't clearly the best thing. But the animation is decent enough for a spin-off series. The music is also decent. The opening is good, but the ending is not my type. The ost is also pretty absent in some scenes and it really makes it forgettable. Overall, just a bad series in general. It doesn't accomplish anything or inform the viewers information that they already know from watching the main series. Some of you may ask why am I so harsh to a spin-off series... Well, being a spin-off series doesn't really excuse it being this bad. Take Prisma Illya as example. A magical girl spin-off of Fate Stay Night which doesn't stagnate the characters and always finding ways to seperate itself from the main series but not too much that it would contradict the main series. Basically, every story must have reason to exist, or it's just a waste of time. And this spin-off is definitely the latter. (3.6/10)

If there was one way to summarize this spin-off, it'd be: "How good and pleasant it is when we, the denizens of Tempest, dwell together in unity, to praise and commune with the Great Rimuru-sama". Ever since the announcement (and eventual airing of the 1st Cour) of Season 2 of TenSura, fans have been kinda complaining that the source material's adaptation have been wishy-washy, as if to premonition the events of what Season 2 will be carrying forward for the franchise, and leaving what's left of Season 1's smaller and minor contents behind for the "greater good". Well fear no more, because this spin-off (which isactually meant to be the stopgap between Season 2's 1st and 2nd Cours) will definitely address that problem, and definitely for the "greater good". As what you'd expect from the title, TenSura Nikki (still written by author Fuse but illustrated by someone else: Shiba) accounts the slice-of-life daily diaries of Great Rimuru and the various humans and monsters of Tempest, all living together in harmony and experiencing their share of canonical stories while living in the Jura Tempest Federation, devoid of any danger (Shion and Demon Lord Milim are the usual red flags, but thankfully the latter is suppressed to a kid-like personality). If you feel like most off the side characters in the main series barely had any time to breathe in Season 1 of the Jura Tempest Federation arc, well this is the show for all the side characters to shine and get their screentime, that's worth the hilarious and relaxing humes of feelings and emotions all at the same time. Heck, a Tempest where there's little to no "Big Bad" avenues for violence? Sign me up for this relaxation course! Despite still being produced by 8-bit (as part of the TenSura franchise), almost all of the production staff (except musician R.O.N) are newbies with some works credited to them (even director Yuuji Haibara, of which this show is his directorial debut), and not a lot of that. That might explain why this show looks vastly different from the main series, not to mention with the drop in production values. Even stemming down to newbie Seiyuu Akane Kumada for her performance on her debut OP songs for both Super Cub and this show (if you don't count the unpopular shows she has done before), overall, this is a relatively young crew whom are just starting their careers in the anime industry. Still though, with such a high-profile franchise like TenSura, there is hope that these chaps and delicate women will be able to make it big in their future projects, with TenSura Nikki being a healthy stepping stone. Good luck, and fingers crossed on that one. Really good stuff when it comes to most spin-offs of any huge or popular franchise, and TenSura Nikki is no different, offering a very different take, while simultaneously delivering on the same feel from the series that it stems from. The only discourse is that you need to have watched Season 1 in order to understand all the references of this spin-off, otherwise you're good to go and enjoy some of the best relaxing and composed companionships that are never-before-seen in the main series. Of course, you're the low-ball who deserves a rest, and TenSura Nikki is your gateway to more slime goodness in slice-of-life comfort and pleasure, coming out with a smile on the face.

After the completion of Tensura S2 part 1 (Also known as That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime or Tensei shitara Slime Datta Ken) many of us thought that this spin off is the continuation of the story. But it's not!! This spin off is 100% different (Also not related to Main story). It deepens the bond between the characters... Story:7/10 Well, to be frank, everyday is a new story in our life. This story main theme is about daily lives of them. How Rimiru works in the town, what will they do at free time, parties and festivals. I really love how they showed theirlives merrily by enjoying themselves. Only a draw back: You might feel a bit bored in some parts but with the dose of comedy you'll like it for sure. Art: 7/10 The animation in Tensura S2 and Tensura Nikki is quite different. I mean they are more like mid- Chibi characters and less like Original characters. I felt weird for the first episode. But I adopted (mostly enjoyed) looking at their smooth style. One draw back: I know they did this for fun but the Gabiru designs while singing are too bad. You need to give good recognition for a good singer lol. Sound: 8/10 Actually there are no fights in this Tensura Nikki. So I thought how are they going to use the sound since it's a plus point for Tensura series. But they drastically turned my expectations up to down. If there aren't fights, so what? We have some heartwarming scenes and we'll show our talent.... They really showed their talent. The song in ep 11 is good gonna play it again...You'll enjoy the sound effects so much. Character: 10/10 I gave a 10 for the character because in this series we got to know more about other characters than rimiru this time. I think I love how they portrayed Souei.. he wants to help them, but no one invites him. We got to know that Benimaru hates carrots and Milim loves to break and eat... It's good. I hope they continue it. Enjoyment: 9/10 Tensura Nikki is an anime where you can laugh happily, have swimsuits, summer festivals and mainly glasses Shion....I really enjoyed every season with them.. Overall: 7/10 Hmm, why 7? Well, I'll tell you the reason. This show can ONLY ENTERTAIN THE SLIME FANS not the regular anime enjoyers. I mean they'll laugh for the jokes but still they can find something inadequate. The pacing is a bit lagged too. So Many of you may don't like it. But if you can try it can be your good watch of the season. See you in Tensura S2 part 2

Spin-offs are always a hit or a miss. But this was was definitely a hit. It gives a inside look of the day-to-day event is the Tempest Federation as well as goes in depth with the characters we all know and love. While I love the original show, Slime Diaries now hold a place in my heart has we see a lot of side characters interact with each other. My favorite is the Orges and how they try to fit in this community while having so much guilty weighting over them. There is also A LOT of foreshadowing to the events ofseason two with Tranie and Lady Moline warning our favorite slime that peace never truly last. I could go on and on about how great this spin-off is but then I would just be writing spoilers so I would highly recommend watching. I hope this series gets a season 2.

I enjoyed this much more than the original series. Unlike the original series where I rolled my eyes whenever they speak, and characters whose personality can be summed up to "loving rimuru". The characters here are more lively and fun to watch, the dialogues are goofy which is perfect for a slice of life, and it just makes me smile. The linier crappy plot is non existent. I especially grew to love the orc dude, shion, and the plant lady. I choked when I saw the plant lady making jokes about how eating potato's, which she loves, counts as cannibalism, and how she ditched herentire role to make a cafe and eat potato chips all day. The orc dude became such a doting guy towards little kids and seeing him hang around them was just cute af. Even shion who I regarded as "just boobs" grew on me. I love this series now, everything is just perfect as a slice of life. I hope they make more of this and not the original series

Tensura Nikki is a fantastic spinoff, if you're already a fan of Tensura itself. *Minor spoilers for the original Tensura/mentioning characters that appear much later* Due to the much faster pace of the original show, it can sometimes feel like you're missing some of that downtime to chill out and relax amidst the politics, plotting, and fights. It's a sidestory where you can sit back, enjoy the adorable characters, bright colours, and growth of Tempest. Due to most of the plot occuring in the base series, it can feel a lot slower than it 'should' to the average viewer. Some might say there's no plot at all,but that's kind of the point of Tensura Nikki. It's like a sitcom(situational comedy) version of Tensura, character driven side stories, worldcrafting, and adorable visuals. Admittedly I personally would have liked a version of Tensura Nikki with Raphael instead of Great Sage, since Great Sage is comparatively monotone. All in all, I loved this spinoff because it was a cute, character driven sitcom and I am a hardcore simp for Rimuru's design in this style.

Tensura Nikki doesn't have god-like animation; it doesn't have a groundbreaking premise or story. It isn't really anything special. Tensura Nikki is a slice of life spin-off and that's all it is. But with that being said, Tensura Nikki is so god damn fun to watch. Just like how the main series is just a generic Isekai, but it's a generic Isekai done right, this spin-off is just a generic slice of life, but it's a generic slice of life done right. I gave the show a 10/10 because some scenes just melt my heart, some just make me smile, and the entire show makes me showrelaxed. If you don't like slice of life shows, this will be terrible for you. But if you do like slice of life shows, this will be amazing for you.

Instead of a "spinoff" you can view this as a bonus or filler episode, but times 12. Then it will definitely fulfill or exceed your expectations. There are a couple episodes that are a collection of small 1-2 minute unrelated scenes, each quite enjoyable. These episodes are comparable to a whole season of some 3-minute 4-koma adaptations, so even just 1 of these episodes has me feeling satisfied by this show. Of course it'd be hard to come up with 12 episodes that are all packing that much content and at the same high standard. You did not expect to get essentially what other shows could call 12seasons in one season here, did you? So most of the episodes further in slow down the pace a bit and follow another formula. Some focus on a specific character, some on a real world event or custom getting recreated in the monster city, etc., with a lot of recurring gags and cute moments or other elements. It was a great way to kill time while waiting for the next season of the main story.

This is a slice of life variant of that time I reincarnated as a slime. It is set during the first season of that time I reincarnated as a slime and you can't really watch it without watching that first. You don't have to watch the second season though. The story is, as you'd expect from a slice of life, not very consistent or interesting. Every episode is about something new, generally a holiday from Earth that Rimuru tries to implement into the world he finds himself in in some way, shape or form. Some of the episodes actually contain additions to the main anime;for example there's an episode about farming which explains how the city gets part of its food. Overall the tone is completely different from the main anime but I think it's an okay slice of life. The characters are the same as in the main anime. The difference is that in this version different personality traits receive more attention. For example Benimaru is more controlled by Shuna, the sister dryads are jealous of the main dryad and Rimuru is always made to dress like a girl in different outfits. Overall the character design for everyone is cuter which is also very noticeable looking at the background characters. The animation and music are both okay. The voice acting is the same as in the main anime and is fine. All in all I'm not sure if people will like this. The entire atmosphere is way different than in that time I reincarnated as a slime since it's a slice of life anime. If you like slice of life anime and like that time I reincarnated as a slime then you'll probably like this one too. If you don't like slice of life anime, you probably won't like this either. It's not watching just for the additions to the main story at least since there's too few and they're relatively insignificant.

In one word - "meh". You know how almost every anime has that fanservice episode involving swimsuits or another random episode that has nothing to do with the story (usually involving Christmas or another holiday)? Well why make a single episode if you can make an entire season? I like Tensura, it's one of the only well made isekai anime around, but Tensura Nikki doesn't give any of the vibes of the parent show. It seems that they tried to make a gag anime based on Tensura but the jokes are repetitive and it just gets boring after the second episode. I really don't believe Iactually watched this all the way to the end but since I have I can just tell you this - If you watched a couple of episodes and weren't thrilled you can safely drop this, it doesn't get any better.

Slime Diaries is an excellent addition to the original series as a slice of life bonus, doing its best to help build the more casual essence of the world at the work that goes into maintain the city and its people (as-well as the culture). For anyone that has watched through both seasons 1 and 2, I believe this is a must watch. Its not Canon... However I feel that if you've already watched through the entire series then there isn't really any reason why you wouldn't also watch this. It's just more content. For those that haven't watched the original show, its harder to recommendjust this season. If I was trying to get someone into Tensei shitara Slime Datta Ken, then I would just point them to the first season, going from there as a starting point. If they enjoy the show enough to keep watching (including specials and the movie) then why not also include Slime Diaries. While its not action packed, it still has some great animation. Doesn't feel like it overstays its welcome and integrates lots of Japanese culture that isn't as prevalent in the mainline series. Would I recommend? Yes, but only if your already interested in watching Tensei shitara Slime Datta Ken, if not then don't bother. You probably wouldn't get anything out of it if the first or second season didn't interest you.

Tensura Nikki: Tensei shitara Slime Datta Ken (2021) Well, here we go with a very happy and cheerful side of the show that is a bit out of context with it being so bright and colourful from a show that is pretty dark overall. This is much more a PG style of the show which has less action but more slice of life. The art style is very similar but much more...cute than the main show being that it takes a very different stance this time. The OP and ED are much more cheery and the opposite of what has been thus far. The SFX hasremained and you get the great sound the show normally provides. Character development takes a more personal touch this time for example with Treyni and her sisters which are great to have joined in. You get a much more personal take on many characters but the whole we love Rimuru thing gets a bit much too quickly. It is way beyond weird and way too involved to a point of complete obsession which is the main downside of this show. Great things: ep1 Shuna is adorable. ep2 Treyni is awesome. ep5 Canine's scared of fireworks shows realism. ep9 The bee is hilarious. ep11 The bee again and more Dryads, Milim hilarious with the Santa Claus moment. The main thing with this is it is about living earth like events through this season and a real deep weird obsession with Rimuru essentially is this show. 8/10. Despite being pretty creepy in one particular way it is a very good ride.

I'll try to keep this short. Seeing this spinoff was fun. It still pretty much felt like watching the actual anime. Despite the art being somewhat different to what it is in the anime, and obviously the fact that there isn't really any plot going on in it. Which is fine, that's what spinoffs are for. It felt like you were watching one of the calm episodes in the anime, where nothing really happens. Except it's an entire season of those episodes. Those kinds of episodes make you forget how f**ked up this anime can be sometimes, but there was none of that here. Sometimes whenwatching the anime, problems never stopped coming, and seeing the characters finally relax and live their lives was really refreshing. If you haven't seen it, this is basically late season 1, from a mundane, everyday perspective. Except it isn't really "everyday". There are tons of time-jumps here and there, but you get what I'm tryna say. It was still cool to see stuff you'd already seen from a different perspective, because not only did it remind you of what happened in the season, but it also made you understand some things better. Overall, I'd give this an 8. It's obviuosly not as good as the actual anime, but it was still pretty cool seeing an anime you know and love take on a completely different vibe.

It's a very entertaining spin-off. This anime is nothing but dumb fun, which is what it's supposed to be. This was a nice change of pace from the norm. The story wasn't really a story, more of an event pacing. This spin-off was a slice of lifestyle anime that takes from the first season and part of the first part of the second season. Everything in this spin-off is just a way to display the lifestyle of Rimuru and the entirety of the Jura Tempest Federation. All the characters we've known have returned in this anime, along with a few new characters exclusive to this spin-off.This spin-off, however, has shown new sides to everyone and has helped broaden these characters and their lives. Geld is a good example of this, as he's portrayed as good with kids, especially Tiny (that's the nickname I gave the Goblina child that's always with Geld). The animation style was also very cute and unique. Everything was smooth and well animated, and there was the occasional use of CGI which was surprisingly well done. The redesigns of some characters and species are a bit weird, but you'll have to get used to it. They look cuter here, which is what this anime is. Overall, a good spin-off that is very relaxing and adorable. This anime is just for dumb fun, and shouldn't be taken seriously. A good mindless watch. Also, Shion is suddenly a bit more lewd here, not complaining tho ;). Watch this after watching S1 and the first half of part one of S2, as these are the source material. Enjoy!

Good comic vibe you will approach from this side part of the slime show. It's not like main storyline, where most part is filled with battle of Rimuru and his Tempest army rather composite day to life stories of charcters. Indeed a good concept to fill potholes and process behind it's world building. About animation, as usually similar to the animation of the parent anime. Very good musicals and good comedic voice actings. Story is plane and simple where character doesn't change through. A good watch. Tensura Nikki translates to Slime diary, where Rimuru writes his daily life events. After reincarnated to the different world, Rimurustarts building his own town. The process and it's struggle are shown in parent storyline but here you will find the sweet and relaxing part of the Tempest town. What they do in free time or through different seasons. How they manage the town ? How they cultivate and invest in trading business ? Reason behind Tempest's rise and relationship of demons with different kinds. Most of the part is Rimuru's idea behind celebrating festivals for different occasion. You will get to see Veldora as well, he will lead us through his plot breaking talk.

Did you ever watch a filler episode between two arcs, the episode where is just characters chilling while at peace with no villain or problem and thought, "I could watch a whole season of this"? Well, this is the anime for you. This is a spin-off "slice of life" version done right. "Tensura Nikki: Tensei shitara Slime Datta Ken" tells the every day lives of the residents of Rimuru City. Unlike other anime that try the same thing, this one actually feels like its cannon(with some obvious exceptions that alter the main story). The interactions between the characters is interesting and enjoyable to watch. Simple, chill interactionsbetween characters that dont force plot. The art style of mostly hits with some misses. To go from the original art style to this one is a bit jarring, but you get used to it. In particular, I did not care for the appearance of the old man Hakurou, the facial hair seemed off. Characters are highlighted with great moments. Characters that are not exactly my favorite ones. Treyni, the Dryad, is very fun, with a goofball charm, just wanting to be a part of the activities. Geld and a little goblin girl share very wholesome scenes. This was a really good buffer between the first and second part of the second season. We got fun scenes and brief ominous of whats happened with Part 1 and whats going to happen in Part 2.

tl;dr: A gag spin off that’s comfy and decently funny. Tensura Nikki, AKA The Slime Diaries, is a spin off of TenSura that takes place roughly in between stopping the orc invasion and the the attack by Charybdis. This would put it chronologically in the middle of the first season of TenSura, though it was released in between the first and second parts of the second season. It’s a gag spin off with essentially no connection to the plot though, even going so far as to change up the plot of the events that it shares with the main series in order to make them moreamusing. So watch order really doesn’t matter that much. Still, I would say is necessary to be familiar with the cast and general mechanics to the world so I would recommend having watched at least most of season one first. This anime chronicles about a year in the life of Rimiru and the rest of the cast as they just live their new lives. There’s a heavy emphasis on seasons with Rimiru introducing the inhabitants of Jura to a host of seasonal Japanese customs and celebrations. There’s a pretty comfy feel to everything. Still, it felt overtly generic for what is a story set in another world featuring a cast of primarily non-humans. While things don’t play out as they would in an anime set in Japan, most of the time it doesn’t feel like they’re veering too far. Most of the differences seem to come down to celebrating Rimiru instead of whatever was celebrated in Japan, and that some things are taken to extremes due to certain characters being much more powerful than any residents of Earth. It kind of feels like the residents of that world don’t really have any culture or customs at all. Otherworldly culture wasn’t really all that present in the main series either, but because it wasn’t really a focus it didn’t really seem like a problem. Here it very much is in the spot light and it feels kind of off. Cast wise, it doesn’t do anything completely new but it does flesh out some character related points better. For example, the feelings of orcs and how they feel being a part of Jura after the invasion is touched upon in the main series, but it felt glossed over. Here it’s touched upon repeatedly and in the end it gives a much stronger impression that emotionally resonates much better. Still, that only happened with a few characters and overall I wouldn’t say the anime contributed all that much to characterization of the cast overall. Rather, a lot of characters felt pretty different from how they were in the main series. This is understandable as it was necessary in order to add more comedy which is what the thrust of the anime is. However, the disconnect results in this not really increasing the viewer’s investment in the main series versions of the characters. Still, it’s not like the series are completely different so it still does a pretty good job of building up investment in the cast and their city holistically. As for the core of the anime, the comedy, I would say it’s more of a mixed bag as compared to the main series. The main series had less, but I feel it was more consistently higher quality. Here there’s a lot more and I suppose it may be the case that the amount of high quality comedy is equivalent of the amount in the main series, but it also feels like there’s a lot more mediocre comedy in this so overall it comes across as weaker. It also felt more repetitive. The pacing of the anime overall also felt much slower, which fits the atmosphere of the anime to a degree, but with all the time skips I still feel it should have been faster. I feel like the first two OVAs of the main series were aiming for pretty much the same thing as what this anime is trying to do in terms of being comedy focused, but managed to do it better. The art and animation are solid enough in terms of quality. The style is pretty noticeably different though, with some character designs being very noticeably different. I understand that it was done to better fit the change in tone, but overall I’d have to say I’m still not much of a fan. The OP is solid enough but not particularly great in terms of audio or visuals. I really liked how the EDs changed for each individual episode visually, and the song actually grew on me quite a bit. The soundtrack wasn’t particularly memorable.

So, here we see a very deep plotline. We have farming and parties. That's it. This whole season is just farming and parties. HOWEVER, I was able to stick through it comfortably because it gave an insight into the city as well as a better look at the individual characters... and also makes you fawn over how adorable Geld actually is. I love the art of the series... so what is this? This is terrible compared to the main series. I understand that they did this to stay faithful to the spinoff manga's change in art style, but it isthe same situation where it looks so weird. Although I will say that it is very clean and flows nicely. The first ending theme (that they seem to pick when it plays randomly) is outstanding and has me singing along to it, but the rest of it is just average and not engaging at all, including the sound effects. Rimuru Tempest (Satoru Mikami) - Died and reincarnated as a slime in another world filled with monsters.

The genre of the spin off is : Comedy, Fantasy If it was slice of life, I would have given it a 6 at best. Even Slice of life animes like "By the Grace of the Gods" and "The Weakest Tamer Began a Journey to Pick Up Trash" or Food animes like "Delicious in Dungeon" have better character development and plot. Even Naruto fillers had better character development and plot than this. This spin-off is as bad as the fillers of One piece (including the 23 minute clay animation episodes). The characters follow their simplistic character traits and have no growth. The stories are neither humorous nor worth pondering. You can't justtake fillers of 23 min each and turn them into a spin off. Spin off is supposed to have a story of its own. The Konosuba spinoff had some story and gave the spin off character some depth. If you accidentally landed on this anime, please skip it and save 4 hrs of your life you will never get back. The 1-2 minute mini clips at the end of Shangri La Frontier have more story and character depth than this entire spin off.
