Why does this movie exist? This film suffers from a problem very similar to the second film in which Cooler appears: it's a completely unnecessary sequel to a film that barely managed to sustain itself. The first Broly movie didn't have a strong enough story to justify sequels. What held the audience's interest were mainly the fights, something that, unfortunately, this film fails to deliver anywhere near the same level. The idea of having Videl fight Broly right at the beginning was simply pathetic. To me, this already made it clear that the film had no commitment to character development. Broly, who in the previous film wasan almost invincible entity, capable of instilling fear in all the Z Fighters and crushing anyone who crossed his path, is reduced to a joke here. There's none of that weight, that sense of threat that made him such a memorable villain.
Even being a very charismatic antagonist, there's no convincing narrative device to explain why he would be "playing" at fighting Goten and Trunks. These interactions not only completely break the character's logic, but also undermine any credibility of the threat the film tries to establish. The situation is so poorly constructed that it's difficult to take seriously.
And then comes one of the most absurd and shameful scenes: Trunks urinating on Broly's face. Seriously… that was one of the most ridiculous moments in the film. A complete disrespect to the character's image built in the previous film. At that moment, it becomes clear that the goal here wasn't to create a real story, but simply to ride the wave of popularity from the previous film, releasing anything involving Broly's name to sell.
My rating of 4 is justified precisely because of this: the dishonor to the character, the weak narrative, the lackluster fights, and the numerous plot holes that hinder any attempt to take this film seriously.
The only truly good thing I can highlight is the final blow, when Gohan, Goten, and Goku team up to defeat Broly. This scene, though brief, at least delivers some of the emotion expected from a Dragon Ball climax. Unfortunately, it's far too little to salvage the rest of the disaster.

Porque esse filme existe?
Esse filme sofre de um problema muito parecido com o segundo filme em que o Cooler aparece: é uma sequência completamente desnecessária de um filme que mal conseguia se manter. O primeiro filme do Broly não tinha uma história forte o suficiente para justificar continuações. O que segurava o interesse do público eram, principalmente, as lutas, algo que, infelizmente, este filme não consegue entregar nem de longe no mesmo nível.
A ideia de colocar a Videl enfrentando o Broly logo no início foi simplesmente patética. Isso, pra mim, já deixou claro que o filme não tinha nenhum compromisso com a construção do personagem. O Broly, que no filme anterior era uma entidade quase invencível, capaz de colocar medo em todos os Guerreiros Z e de esmagar qualquer um que cruzasse seu caminho, aqui é reduzido a uma piada. Não existe aquele peso, aquela sensação de ameaça que fazia dele um vilão tão memorável.
Mesmo sendo um antagonista com muito carisma, não há nenhum recurso narrativo convincente que explique por que ele estaria “brincando” de lutar com o Goten e o Trunks. Essas interações não apenas quebram completamente a lógica do personagem, como também tiram qualquer credibilidade da ameaça que o filme tenta estabelecer. A situação é tão mal construída que chega a ser difícil levar a sério.
E então vem uma das cenas mais absurdas e vergonhosas: o Trunks mijando na cara do Broly. Sério… isso foi um dos momentos mais ridículos do filme. Um completo desrespeito à imagem do personagem que foi construída no filme anterior. Nessa hora, fica evidente que o objetivo aqui não era criar uma história de verdade, mas apenas surfar na popularidade do filme anterior, lançando qualquer coisa que envolvesse o nome Broly para vender.
A minha nota 4 se justifica exatamente por isso: pela desonra ao personagem, pela narrativa fraca, pelas lutas sem graça e pelos inúmeros furos de roteiro que atrapalham qualquer tentativa de levar esse filme a sério.
A única coisa realmente boa que posso destacar é o golpe final, quando Gohan, Goten e Goku se unem para derrotar o Broly. Essa cena, apesar de rápida, ao menos entrega um pouco da emoção que se espera de um clímax em Dragon Ball. Infelizmente, é muito pouco para salvar o restante do desastre.
