Notarin is a very small middle-aged man. Being physically quite round, he is presented as a well-dressed, distinguished man, involved in his work. He remains a character that can be easily manipulated, a caricature of politicians or civil servants close to political power. In Metropolis, he is the Superintendent-general of the Metropolis Police Department.
